Applied Kinesiology in Hamilton

Let Your Body Show Us What It Needs
If you’ve tried “everything” for pain, fatigue, gut troubles or a child who’s struggling, it can be frustrating when no one seems to join the dots. Applied Kinesiology offers a practical, hands-on way to see how your brain, body and organs are working together in real time.
How Applied Kinesiology Works
Applied Kinesiology (AK) uses gentle manual muscle testing as a window into how your nervous system is functioning. When a muscle “fails” the test, it’s not about weakness in the gym sense; it’s a sign that something is interfering with normal function.
Dr Hooker then challenges different areas of the body to see what changes that muscle response, helping him work out whether the issue is nerve-related, lymphatic, blood flow, organ, meridian or stress-driven. In AK this is often called checking the five factors around a nerve: the nerve itself, lymph, blood supply, energy pathways and stress receptors. Once the nervous system is balanced, he can layer in specific spinal, cranial, visceral, emotional or nutritional support as needed.

What Applied Kinesiology Can Help Investigate
Applied Kinesiology can help us explore patterns behind concerns such as ongoing neck, back or joint pain and recurring injuries; gut symptoms like bloating, constipation, diarrhoea or reflux; low energy, “wired and tired” feelings and stress-related complaints; learning, behaviour or coordination issues in children, including Retained Neonatal Reflexes; and balance, coordination and confidence with movement in older adults. Instead of guessing, AK lets us see which layer is asking for help first.
